Back Injuries

Lower back pain, also known as lumbago, can come on suddenly, slowly, or be the result of a fall or injury. If you have suffered a back injury at work or in an accident, you may be entitled to receive compensation.

Back pain is one of the most common reasons for absence from work in the UK. In most cases, the pain that is caused by a back injury lasts from a few days to a few weeks and usually clears up after about six weeks.

If back pain lasts for less than three months it is called acute. If the back injury develops gradually over time, lasts more than three months and causes long-term problems, it is known as chronic back pain.

Back injuries can lead to time off work and a loss of earnings until you get back to your job, which means you may be able to claim for compensation.  We can help if you've suffered a back injury at no fault of your own, call us today to discuss your back injury claim.

Suffering a back injury as a result of manual handling at work?

Your employer has to consider whether you need to carry out any manual handling at work. If they decide it is necessary, then they have to do a risk assessment to minimise the chance of injury. Some employers don't know they have to train staff involved in manual handling to avoid unnecessary injury, which applies to loads of any weight and whether you are lifting, pushing, pulling or carrying and object. Even if you have had training and suffered a personal injury, you should get legal help as you may be entitled to make a work injury claim.
