Eye Injuries and blindness

If you have suffered an accident that's caused blindness or eye injuries, the effects can be devastating. And if that accident was not your fault, you may be entitled to claim injury compensation.

My Accident Solicitor can help you with the personal injury claim advice you need, and to pursue any eye or blindness compensation claim.

Possible causes of blindness and eye injuries

Most eye injuries are minor, but because the eye is sensitive, any type of injury can possibily lead to blindness.  With very serious injuries they may even lead to the removal of an eye.

The most common causes of blindness and eye injuries include:

  • Scratches, cuts and irritation after being hit in the eye
  • Burns from fire or flame proximity
  • Contact with small, high speed objects, such as projectile stones or windscreen glass during a car accident
  • Complications following laser eye surgery. Laser eye surgery procedures are growing in popularity in the UK and, while most treatments are successful, there is the risk of an eye injury

It's important that you take great care of your eyes in order to avoid any accidents that could cause blindness or eye injuries. For instance, if your eyes are at risk during your job, make sure you wear safety glasses and ask your employer about proper safety precautions.
